Giovanni and Sonja's project
Our project stems from a combination of events and a desire for change, to rediscover closer contact with nature. After 30 years in the Mendrisiotto, in 2018 Sonja in particular began to yearn for a place that would meet these needs. While working as a house doctor, Sonja discovered Casima and its historic building, which we decided to purchase. Work then began on renovating the building, while respecting the architectural traditions of the period. Once the renovation was complete, we moved to the valley. However, during this initial phase we did not renovate the building that now houses Cà Nani Small Boutique Hotel, an integral part of our house.While living amidst the nature of the Muggio Valley, we noticed the lack of a meeting and refreshment point for locals, who missed the old village taverns. Giovanni happened to meet Claudio Zanini, who told him about the Albergo Diffuso Monte Generoso project, aimed at creating a network of small facilities and developing mountain accommodation. Claudio also mentioned the Scudellate project, which was nearing completion and looking for new partnerships.Driven by a desire to recreate those long gone social occasions, we delved into the building’s historical background by talking to the former owner of “Osteria Antica”, Patrick Travella, and discovered that the tavern has been out of use for over 10 years. We initially thought of creating a small bar to serve passers-by and the local community. Later, given our passion for coming together and promoting the area, we decided to expand the project. We purchased the entire structure, giving shape to the idea of creating Cà Nani Small Boutique Hotel over time. Today, this space at the foot of Monte Generoso aims to become an oasis of style and tranquillity, offering guests a place to stay, eat and socialise, in line with the concept of the Albergo Diffuso Monte Generoso

Alex Bar is open to everyone, serving breakfast with fresh, local produce, available to both our guests and visitors. Later, we invite you to discover our light lunches, served with style in our room with the historic fireplace or on the panoramic terrace, perfect for a pleasant and exclusive break. From 5:00 p.m., the bar is the ideal place for an aperitif, with a selection of local wines from our cellar and classic cocktails. Complete your experience with snacks and coffee, in a cosy and welcoming environment, created to offer an experience of pure relaxation and taste.

Our cellar
Housed in the old stable dating back to the 1600s, our wine cellar contains a selection of fine wines, designed to offer the best of Ticino’s wine-making tradition. With a focus on local wines from the Mendrisiotto, you will find a wide selection of Merlot, without forgetting top international labels. Indeed, our wine list includes a selection of Italian and French wines, along with sparkling wines and Champagnes. Our experts are on hand to advise you on the ideal wine to pair with your dishes. In addition, by reservation only, you can enjoy an exclusive experience with a private tasting in the wine cellar, a unique opportunity to discover our selections in an evocative setting
